Module Marks

Your foundation year course is made up from a number of "modules" relevant to your chosen pathway. Your overall grade for a module is made up from the scores you achieve in its components. For example, the Accounting Module has a Midterm Exam and a Final Exam for its components. They do not count equally. The "weighting" is 30% (0.3) for the Midterm and 70% (0.7) for the Final Exam.

Select a module from the drop down menu and its components and weightings will be loaded up.
You should be given scores for components as percentages. Enter these percentage scores into
the light grey boxes under the relevant component in the "Student's Marks" row. Your overall score will then be calculated from your data.

You can also use this to get an idea of the percentage mark you will need to achieve in an upcoming exam in order to achieve the progession grade given your current component scores.

Select your pathway using the dropdown menu. The subject modules for this pathway will then be loaded.

Modules in blue text are "double modules" which are taught over 2 terms.

Enter the final grades achieved for each module. You can use this calculator to get an idea of the scores you will need in upcoming exams in order to progress to Lancaster University given the scores already obtained.

Although there is some variation, a guide to the overall average is that:

A) more than 70% overall is PROGRESSION.
B) More than 40% and less than 70% is a course PASS (not progression).
C) Less than 40% is a course FAIL.

In addition to achieving an overall average of 70% or more, you must pass all the subject modules in your pathway.
