  How To Use Sawmill Badger
  Setup
  This section is required and sets the parameters for calculations made from data you will input in other sections.
  1. Enter the name of the sawmill;
  2. Provide a name for your mill study (e.g. Clam Lake Lumber – Birch Run);
  3. Enter the species name (only one species is allowed per study);
  4. Select the Log Rule (Doyle, Scribner or International ¼”);
  5. Enter the log grade name and price per MBF;
  6. Enter the price per MBF for each of the lumber grades.  Standard grades are listed and up to four custom grades are allowed.   Leave any unused grade blank;
  7. Enter the sawing cost per MBF of lumber;
  Descriptions of the any custom grades used can be entered and will be included in the summary report.
  Logs
  In this section you will enter the diameters and lengths of up to thirty logs that are sawn in the mill study.   Both small end and large end log diameters are entered in inches and tenths (the large end diameters are necessary for calculating cubic volumes).   Lengths are entered in feet and tenths.   The board foot and cubic foot volumes of each log are calculated automatically, along with the cost of the log.
  Lumber - Batch Option
  Use this option for a fast summary report of the yield from your study logs
  This section allows you to enter the entire lumber yield of the study logs by grade.  A summary report is provided beneath the entry options.   This report can be sent to any connected printers or printed to a PDF file format.
  Lumber - Detailed Option
  Use this option to enter the lumber yield by grade from each log individually.
  There is an individual entry table for each log in the study (up to 30).   Boards from each log are entered individually.  Select the grade of each board from the drop-down list.   Enter the board’s thickness in inches and hundredths of an inch (e.g., 1.25).  Select the surface measure of the board from the dropdown list (1 to 20).  Note: The surface measure is the width of the board in inches and fractions multiplied by the length in whole feet divided by 12.
  Lumber - Detailed Report
  The detailed report section is compiled only if you used the ‘Lumber-Detailed Option’ section to enter the yield of each study log individually.  A one-page summary of the entire yield is provided, along with individual reports for each log.    Note that the report may have extra blank pages is less than thirty logs were included in the study.
  This report can be sent to any connected printers or printed to a PDF file format.
  Printing & Saving Reports
  Use the “Print This” button at the bottom of the screen to print the Batch or Detailed reports.  This will give you the option of sending it to any printer connected to the  device.
  To save the report as a PDF file, use the Share Button at the bottom of the screen. Select ‘Options’ at the top of the screen and then choose PDF.   This will then give you the option of sharing the report as a PDF file in a text or email or to a file sharing service such as Dropbox or Google Drive.
